BRINGING A NEW DIMENSION TO STILL LIFE AT ROWE FINE ART GALLERY

(February 18, 2011) When painter Sue Krzyston browses antique shops and trading posts in Arizona and New Mexico, she’s not just looking for a new treasure for her home. She’s seeking out the subject matter for her next still life painting. Come meet Sue and see her latest oil paintings at Rowe Fine Art Gallery on March 2 from 5 to 8 p.m. during the gallery’s latest exhibition, “Bringing New Dimension to Still Life.” The evening is part of the Sedona Gallery Association’s 1st Friday Gallery Tour. Sue, who has lived in Phoenix for 41 years and has been painting for 30 years, says she’s excited to meet collectors as well as those who might be discovering her work for the very first time.

“I won’t be painting while I’m in the gallery because I need the quiet of my studio,” says Sue. “Painting is such a solitary pursuit, so I love to get out and meet art lovers. I like to hear feedback from collectors or commentary from people who are seeing my work for the first time.”

Sue’s vibrant still life paintings marry artifacts such as moccasins, pottery and beadwork with light and shadow. It’s no wonder this award-winning artist has been compared to the Dutch masters. Sue’s technique and talent breathe new life into objects that were crafted by Native Americans hundreds of years ago, giving viewers a new perspective on the artifacts and the hands that created each one. Sue will be back in the gallery on March 3 from 1 to 5 p.m. Don’t miss this very special weekend.
